Sometimes I blame the suburbs when I’m feeling disillusioned about life, but getting outside in the springtime reminds me there is much to notice and love.Â
It was tough for me to find words this month, so I leave you with this list of images I captured mentally, and can really only partially capture the essence of:
A kid a few blocks down the street did a perfect cartwheel with their backpack on.
Every 30 nights, during the 13th-ish day of the Islamic month / lunar calendar, moonlight floods my room. I love south-facing windows.
There was someone sitting on a lawn chair in their driveway with their back toward the street, eyes closed, face tilted up to soak in the sun.
Last week, I walked by lilac bushes that I took photos in front of 7 years ago. They were as tall as me back then. Now, they’re towering over me, double my height and emanating their floral scent.
It’s finally the time of the year when I step out of work and the world looks filtered as if it was shot on Kodak Portra 400 film. Crisp clouds outlined by a hazy blue sky. Warm-green tree leaves above me and their shadows and sun on my skin.
The helicopter seed thingies are falling from the trees this week. I’ve never taken specific notice of them before. I like laying down on the grass and looking up through tinted sunglasses watching them lazily float to the ground.
Part of me wishes I could show you how these images looked in my mind, but I bet if you took a moment to seek them out, they might find you too.
Actually, tell me. What images have you captured in your mind lately?
Here’s what I’m listening to this upcoming season:
art of noticing🥹🥹 I can see ur images so clearly! Not something im seeing, but when we leave the downstairs door open, I hear voices from the neighborhood carry inside- lots of kids screaming and parents chasing after them
trees that bend over a street all in a row and look like archways almost while you drive down
